Altar Society - The St. James Altar Society continues providing altar and sacristy care as they have for over 120 years. We provide altar linens, banners and vestments in liturgical colors, altar bread, altar candles, and flowers for special occasions, in addition to cleaning the altar area and the sacristy and other services as needed. Each week a member of the Altar Society provides flowers at the tabernacle and cleans the church, which includes keeping the holy water bowls filled and the candles replaced. Another ministry provided by the members is the preparation and serving of food for bereaved families. Members are asked to provide side dishes and serve food so that families can visit with friends and other family members. Also, each month members provide three cakes for the monthly birthday party held at Cartwheel Lodge, and help serve these cakes. We also have bake sales which are our money-making project so that we are able to provide the many services to the Church and the community. The Altar Society has numerous other ministries. Come join us the second Tuesday of each month at 9 am in the Conference Room for good fellowship. For more information contact Georgia Pavliska at 672-3056, talk to any Altar Society member, call the rectory or just show up for a meeting.
